Membership
The Carmenians offer a variety of
membership packages, whether you want to be on stage, help out
behind the scenes or just pop along to help out with the teas and
coffees. All members must be over the age of 16, enthusiastic and
team players! All members are expected to help out with fund-raising
activities and all aspects of the productions.
Full Acting Membership
New applicants must audition
to join the company. Please don’t worry about this, it is something
that you only have to do once and then you can breath a sigh of
relief when it is over! It really is not as daunting as it seems and
remember, we have all been there! The auditions to join the company
are carried out in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in front of the
committee (we don’t bite-honest!). You will be required to bring
along sheet music for yourself and the pianist and a short piece of
dialogue if required. If you wish to audition as a dancer, be
prepared to perform a brief routine set by our choreographer.
Once you have been accepted into the company, you will be eligible
to participate in productions (subject to cast/director etc.),
attend social events and receive a copy of our newsletters. Please
note that Principal Cast and dancers are auditioned per production.
The current annual subscription for Full Acting Membership is £30
(Full Acting Members in full time education or unemployed receive a
discounted rate of £15).
Non-Acting Membership
Non-Acting Membership is a great to be involved if you don’t fancy
actually being on the stage! We are always on the lookout for help
behind the scenes, costumes, even making the tea! Our non-acting
members are the backbone of our company and it is a fantastic way to
keep busy, make friends and feel proud when you see your hard work
come into play. Non-acting members are not required to audition to
join the company and are able to attend social events and receive
the newsletter as well as first refusal on tickets.
The current annual subscription for Non-Acting membership is £15.
Friends of The Carmenians
Musical Theatre Company
Becoming a friend of The Carmenians
is a great way to ensure that you can keep up to date with the
goings on in the company. For a small annual donation, Friends of
The Carmenians can expect; priority booking for all productions,
your name in our programmes, copy of our newsletter and you will be
welcome to look in on rehearsals and join in social events.
